Hidden Muscle of Elbow
The Anconeus muscle is a small triangular muscle on the posterior part of elbow, originating from the lateral epicondyle of humerus and inserts into the lateral surface of olecranon process and proximal part of ulna bone posteriorly.
It primarily assists triceps in elbow extension and plays a major role in stabilization of the elbow joint during forearm pronation and supination.
The interosseous recurrent artery supplies the muscle, while the radial nerve innervates it.
